What we build

A proper base for the building that's going on top of it.

If your building supplier has specified a flat concrete base, we can prepare the site and construct it to the required dimensions.

01

Shed bases

Level concrete foundations for timber, metal and composite sheds of all common domestic sizes.

02

Workshops

Larger bases for garden workshops, storage buildings and heavier-duty outbuildings.

03

Summerhouses

Neat, level bases prepared for summerhouses and other garden buildings where a concrete foundation is specified.

04

Garden buildings

Concrete bases for garden offices, cabins and similar structures where concrete is appropriate to the supplier's requirements.

Already bought the building?

Send us the base plan. We'll take it from there.

Shed and garden-building suppliers often provide a drawing showing the exact base dimensions they require.

You don't need to translate that into a groundworks specification yourself.

Send us the plan, your postcode and a few photographs of the proposed location and access. We can use that information to assess the job and prepare a quotation.

What is a concrete shed base?

The foundation beneath your new building.

A shed or garden building needs to sit on something flat, stable and suitable for the structure being installed.

Where a concrete base is required, the work normally involves preparing the ground, forming a stable sub-base and installing a level concrete slab to the necessary size.

The exact construction can vary according to the building, site conditions and supplier requirements, so we assess each job individually rather than applying one specification to every site.

Frequently asked questions

A few things you may want to know.

How much does a concrete base cost?

The cost depends on the dimensions, access, excavation required, ground conditions and any waste that needs to be removed. Send us your details and we can provide a quotation based on the actual job.

What information do you need to quote?

Ideally we need the required base dimensions, your postcode and several photographs showing the proposed base location and the access to it. If your building supplier has provided a base drawing, send that too.

If you don't have all of that information, don't worry. Just get in touch with whatever you do know and we can help you work out what is needed next.

How thick should my concrete base be?

There is no single specification that is appropriate for every building and site. We consider the intended structure, site conditions and any requirements provided by your building supplier.

Generally speaking, however, around 4 inches (100 mm) of concrete is typical for many ordinary shed bases. Heavier loads, unusual ground conditions or other exceptional circumstances may require a different specification.

Does my concrete base need a sub-base?

Yes. A properly compacted sub-base is normally required beneath the concrete. We typically use MOT Type 1 aggregate to create a firm and stable foundation for the slab.

Around 4 inches (100 mm) of compacted Type 1 is common for many ordinary shed bases, although the required depth can vary depending on ground conditions, loads and other site-specific factors.

Can you work from my shed supplier's plans?

Yes. If your supplier has specified the dimensions or construction requirements for the base, send those details to us when requesting your quote.

Do you only build shed bases?

Concrete bases are our main focus. We also construct bases for workshops, summerhouses and other suitable garden buildings.
